4/29/2013- Votacall Hosted VoIP - Boston, Massachusetts- Unified Communications is a huge aspect within a Hosted VoIP platform. However, within the UC field, there are certain features that are more important to the users than others. For example, voice-mail is used by just about every company and is very important for making sure no call is missed without a message being recorder. On the other hand, video conferencing is an important aspect of business for many larger companies. It allows them to keep in contact with fellow employees that may be across the country or simply working remotely. But it might no be important to a small company that does not have any need for video conferencing.

Unified Communications has the ability to save companies money and improve functionality. With all its features, it gives a hosted voip platform a big advantage over a premise-base provider that cannot offer these options to their telecom system. When you combine UC features with the strength and reliability of a voip platform, it forms the best telecom option on the market. For this reason the market is growing and continues to be the greatest trend within telecom. Premise-based users are constantly changing out their old premise-based systems in favor of a Hosted VoIP one.

I surveyed 100 companies and voice-mail ranked as the most important UC features; receiving an average of 5 on a 1-5 scale (5 being most important). This is not surprising since voicemail has been around for a while and almost every telecom provider offers it to their customers. The surveyed companies also showed that video conferencing was important, getting an average rank of 3 on the scale. My guess is that this feature will continue to gain importance with companies expanding geographically and needing to have remote workers. It reduces and in some cases eliminates the need for companies to spend money on employees traveling because they can meet with customers or fellow employees via a video conference meeting. This has added a whole new level of business with sales associates even able to to demonstrations to possible customers without needing to be in the same room as them.

Call forwarding and Anywhere Mobility are a key facet of UC. It allows users to forward their office number to a mobile device when outside of the office. Some people like to leave work with them at the office, but certain employees require to constantly be connected with their companies in case of an emergency or customer service issue that needs to be attended too. For example, business pwners cannot afford to not have access to their phone number or email, making this UC feature very important.

Voicemail to email help keep people engaged when they are at the office and when they are not. When a big meeting is going on and an executive gets a voicemail, they cannot answer their phone to listen to the message, but they are able to read an email that transcribes the voicemail for them. This allows them to see if their is a major issue that needs immediate attention or if its just a friend calling to say high. It allows for business issues to be dealt with in a proper and timely manner while being respectful and courteous to everyone around.

The UC capabilities bring hosted voip platforms to a whole other level, far surpassing its premise-based competitor. Unified Communications allows for business to operate at peak performance through its features and remarkably high uptime. Its a redundant system that compliments its productive business capabilities with its reliability. Neither aspect of a Hosted VoIP system can be found anywhere else, certainly not by a premise-based telecom provider.
