Lets play a word association game.

I am going to say a phrase and you spout out the first thing that comes to mind.

Ready?

“Hosted VoIP”

I knew you would say Cost Savings or Savings or a variation of the two.

Makes sense because that is what people talk about when they talk Hosted VoIP. What many do not realize is that if you play the word association game with someone who has been a happy Hosted VoIP customer for more than a year, the answer changes.

In fact cost savings is not even in the top 3.

In the process of polling existing Hosted VoIP customers to determine the #1 reason a business is happy that they made a move to a Hosted VoIP Phone System, we found that the responses were more value than price related.

  3. Managed Service
  4. Price/Savings
  5. Solution Control

The VoIP Aha Moment

At first the results were a bit shocking as we thought Savings would trump all.  Then we thought about it and it made perfect sense.

Cost Savings is really a marketing tool for many providers. In fact SAVINGS as a marketing tool is everywhere.  When a prospect starts researching VoIP Savings is front and center, making it a focal point of the process. 

However, once a business makes a decision to move to Hosted VoIP, the word SAVINGS drops of the radar. The business is no longer Googling “The benefits of Hosted VoIP” or “What is Hosted VoIP”.

Once a Hosted VoIP Phone System is implemented...

the S word (Savings) ends up getting replaced by V words (Value).

 

VoIP Value

Value words start taking over for the S word once a business starts to use the product due to users realizing the everyday power of Hosted VoIP. Once an end-user starts taking advantage of the technology in real life circumstances and not in some demo or presentation in a controlled environment or conference room, Savings becomes an afterthought.

This is where VALUE words become the first thing that pops into a user’s head. Now don’t get me wrong, I love savings, Cost Savings is a great thing….just not the only thing. If a business selects an innovative and customer-centric provider, Savings will be another word on the benefit list. If a business makes a decision based on price alone, Savings may be the only word on the benefit list.

So, when it’s time to start the process of looking into Hosted VoIP for your business, consider the providers ability to execute on Value words first. Anybody can deliver Savings.
