1/22/2013- Votacall Hosted VoIP & Cloud Based UC Solutions- Boston, Massachusetts- Nowadays, everybody seems paranoid of being hacked or having their security systems compromised. You see these concerns heighten when dealing with Cloud Computing and Cloud Communications. Users are afraid that having their data and information on a Cloud not within their immediate control could lead to catastrophe. I have a different view, there is always a risk of being hacked or breached in today's world, there are always people looking to harm people and get information they do not own. But in today's technology age, these things are inevitable. The only way to completely get rid of these risks is to turn off electricity and toss all the electronics we love in the trash (TV, computer, phone). I read an article about how NASA's Curiosity could be hacked and this seemed crazy to me. If NASA, our supposedly top tier technology department, could be hacked then anyone can be. No system of firewalls or security measures cans top this because hackers are persistent and great at their craft. Because this is the unfortunate case, I say we should stop worrying about it once security systems are in place. All we can do is hope are systems will stop intruders or more importantly hope our systems wont be targeted all together. Because a hardware system in a company can be hacked, they have a smaller chance with a Cloud system since the company focuses on keeping people out and operating without failures. The benefits are tremendous and numerous with the Cloud; the draw back people saying being security. Since hackers can get into your systems anywhere (including NSA and NASA), you might as well adopt the Cloud and benefit from the positives. Some people dwell in the negative of security and that is no way to live; inevitably leading to failure because of pessimism. Join the Cloud and gain the positives because they far outweigh the negative of security.
