4/26/2013- Votacall Hosted VoIP - Boston, Massachusetts- New technologies scare people, but once they get over that initial scare, Hosted VoIP could grow on them. The sales teams must show them that the managed service is reliable and will take care of all the users needs. The point of a managed service is so the IT department of the user does not have to stress with the telecom system. It allows the company to redirect those resources to another technology issue within the business. Between the human labor and money saved from a Hosted VoIP system, a company will dramatically benefit; once they overcome the fear of new technology.
The idea of a managed service is new to todays world, but its starting to become a more common telecom element. The trend has calmed some companies worries about the technology. However, I surveyed 200 people who are in charge of telecom at companies and 91% are scared of new technologies at one level or another. It ranges from very scared to only slightly scared, but it proves how Hosted VoIP is opposed in some cases simply because its a new idea. The longer the product/service stays on the market, chances are it will start to be adopted more often.
Its very important to Hosted VoIP's future that it continues to grow by steady rates. The market is predicted to overtake premise-base systems and become the future of Telecom. As with many other new products and services, the higher the number of people who adopt into the idea, then the higher chance others will follow.
My college professor worked in supply chain management for 40 plus years and knows many top level executives. He told us a story, where an executive of Coca-Cola changed the companies whole supply chain framework simply because he read an article on a plane. He was sitting first class, peered into the sky mall magazine and saw the article on New Balance. The article spoke about the supply chain of New Balance and how they were starting to diversify their risk by using multiple supplier, transporters and buyers. The idea is to reduce the amount you rely on one contract because if they start to fail, so will your business. The goal is to lower the dependency of a certain supplier or manufacturer to around 20% of total business; thats the maximum you want to have.
I bring this story up simply to show that top executives follow the ideas of other executives; even based on a sky mall article. Companies want to stay ahead or even with their competitors and technology plays a huge aspect of that thinking. When a business hears that their direct competitor has adopted & installed a Hosted VoIP system into their office, they are far more likely to call a VoIP provider themselves. It pushes the envelope for the VoIP industry; companies don't want to be left with a less adequate phone system just because they are afraid to adopt a new technology. This creates a growing market and encourages premise-based customers to switch to a Hosted VoIP system.
The managed service aspect of VoIP can help reduce or eliminate the nervousness customers have. The provider takes care of all aspects of the system, from install and operations, all the way to technical support and troubleshooting. Customers do not need to be scared of this new technology because its already established and continues to improve through innovation and key additions to the platform. Therefore, once customers get beyond the initial intimidation of this new telecom technology, they will fall in love with the more functional Hosted VoIP.
