Face-To-Face Communication Still Alive Despite Unified Communications

8/21/2012- Votacall Hosted VoIP & Cloud Based UC Solutions- Boston, Massachusetts- 20 years ago Bill Gates predicted that by 2000 we as humans would be flying much less and would be using the Internet instead. He was somewhat wrong, because we fly more than ever and use the internet even more. No matter how far we develop video conferencing, it will never be a substitute for face-to-face communication and negotiation. The reality, most people rely on body language and eye contact in order to accurately read someone, meaning video conferencing only gives us half the picture. As I mentioned in an earlier blog, robots are being created to roam around for the individual using video conferencing, but they do not accurately simulate humans body language. Another reason I think the Computer legend Bill Gates was mistaken is because humans love to have fun and see things for themselves. The best way to do this is to travel, why would we eliminate travel when we can see things such as the pyramids, Leaning Tower of Pizza and The Grand Canyon in person. No matter how Hi-Def 1080 p video looks, our eyes will always be the best visual in the world. Unified Communications are great and have a positive affect on our lives and business specifically; but they will never replace travel and face-to-face communications. Cloud Communications allows for us to work from anywhere, making it easier for vacations and travel while still accessing work and monitoring it. Unified Communications give us resources that would eliminate some travel because of Video Conferencing and the expensive travel costs these days. However, Cloud Communications allows for travel not to affect our work experience. With Fixed Mobile Convergence, an employee can work from anywhere and still receive calls on his direct line. With this technology, even a sales person can travel and never miss a call. In addition, voice mail to email can guarantee an employee will never miss an important message and can respond to it anywhere from the globe and act as if he/she is in the office. These features allow for flexibility of employees because of Reliable VoIP and Unified Communications. Because employees have flexibility, businesses become more productive and efficient and the whole economy benefits.
