The urgency for increased safety when using a hand held mobile device during driving has increased. This is forcing automobile manufacturers to sync its cars with specific phone operating systems. The issue is each telecom company has different phones, with Apple's iPhone, Microsoft's Window's Phone, and Google's Andriod. This will make the job difficult for manufacturers. However, if they want to stay ahead of the competition they will need to integrate all three phones. The Mobility a hands free system will offer is tremendous; never mind the safety. Even hosted voip could be incorporated within a car in order to store data, emails and so on. The idea that a user could operate Facebook and Pandora without taking theirs hands off the steering wheel is amazing. Probably more importantly, they can read and send texts without removing their eyes from the road. This will eliminate distractions and will create a safer roadway. The Cloud Communicatio idea is great for cars and could start a generation of specific phone owners buying certain cars. I really hope the car manufacturers figure out a way to have all operating systems become compatible. But unfortunatley, I believe we are at least a year or two away from that. For now, we can hope the continued addition of hands free features in cars will be pushed because there are far to many distractions while driving already.
