10/1/2012- Votacall VoIP – Boston, Massachusetts- There are several generations using technology these days, some learn to adapt better than others. The Millennial generation has been using services such as Skype to video chat with one another since they were 12. They have grown up with technology and probably would not be able to live the same lives without it. You can walk the streets and see an 8 year old with a cell phone, to most this seems ridiculous. However, this is the world we have grown to love, with technology being innovated everyday to dictate our life. I did not have cell phone till I was 16 or 17, essentially when I got a car. The reason for this was so my parents could keep tabs on me.
In today's world, communication is a huge aspect of ours lives. The ways we can communicate range from instant messaging, Facebook messaging, video conferencing (Unified Communications) all the way to telephone calls. Some generations may have a hard time adjusting to some of these facets.
When it comes to Video Conferencing, some may think its hard to understand the technology. This is not the case, because the features and services are so simple and convenient, any generation can utilize their advantages. Within the workplace, video has become a huge option for companies to communicate between offices and customers. It saves money and travel time while simultaneously offering a face to face experience. All ages of employees can use it, from the new intern all the way up to the seasoned CEO. The systems are so innovative and efficient that a monkey could probably use them. Without the simpleness of these systems, they would be much harder to integrate into a company and could hinder the adoption of Unified Communications.
All generations and ages can use Video Conferencing to become more productive and efficient. Those are two key things when trying to be successful within highly saturated and competitive business markets. The simpleness offered by these systems can guarantee nobody will get frustrated and revert back to the old ways of communication. They are a huge aspect of Unified Communications (UC) and a critical aspect of communication in general. It will be interesting to see where this market is in a decade. As it stands today, I am encouraged by the continued growth of Video Conferencing and could see it eventually taking over communications all together.
