9/27/2012- Votacall VoIP – Boston, Massachusetts- The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) released an article today discussing the "Top 50 Start-Ups". To my delight the number one company was a Hosted VoIP start-up from Texas. The companies name is Genband Incorporated and has raised total equity of $500 million. This is the third year this list has been published, the intent is to identity the start-up that could become the next "Big Thing". The top three companies are all product makers and operate within different technology sectors.

It is encouraging to me that a Hosted VoIP Provider is predicted to be the next big thing. I work for Votacall, another voip provider that relies on the superior hosted telecommunication system. The technology is competing with old premise-based PBX systems that operate over telephone land lines. The issue with this can be seen during a hurricane or storm; as the phone line gets knocked down, so does the telephone connectivity. However, with VoIP there is no concern with that because it is a managed service that is hosted off site. This site is fully managed, meaning your company does not need to pay an IT department anymore. Even during a torrential thunderstorm, your phone systems will operate smoothly since it works over the Internet, not land-lines.

The services are also far more productive and cater to the users specific needs. The Votacall VoIP Platform has many features that allows its users to become more efficient than ever before. It really makes sense why the WSJ would choose this as the next big thing. Its already catching on among thousands of businesses and is trending to take over the old land line systems. Because of this, WSJ made a smart choice in deciding which industry and start-up to crown King. The amount of features VoIP allows for creates many diversified revenue streams, ranging from Video Conferencing to a Hosted Call Center.

The customers get all these services/features at a fraction of the price they were paying for their old out-dated phone system. The services are more consistent, reliable, mobile and efficient...essentially they are just better and since the price for VoIP is far less than the other systems, why would you not choose it? According to the Wall Street Journal, the facts are simple, choose VoIP because its the next "Big Thing". If you don't manage to stay ahead of the competition technology wise, then you will ultimately fail. VoIP is the new trend and "Big Idea", therefore you should all commit to it soon before its too late.
