Windows has wowed consumers with a recent sneak peek at with their upcoming release of their new operating system. Surprisingly, Microsoft has chosen to call this version Windows 10. This confused many as they have typically stayed in numerical order. This time around they have bypassed Windows 9, as their last version of Windows was Windows 8. While many are poking fun at this, Windows 10 is looking like it's going to bring many great, new changes.
Apps on Windows
First, let's note that we only have a small view as to what this new release from Microsoft will include. So far it's looking great! Windows 10 is going to allow users to use apps on their desktop or laptop computer. This is a great feature, and it eliminates the need for multiple devices. Many computers and laptops now have touch screens and double as a tablet. Windows is clearly keeping up with technology with this new addition.
Task View
Other operating systems have long included a feature which allowed you view all of the windows you had open at once. Windows 10 will finally include such an option which they are calling “Task View”. This is going to be a much appreciated feature, and Windows fans have long anticipated when this would finally be added.
Return of the Start Menu
Windows users were previously outraged that their beloved “start menu” had been removed from Windows 8. This is a great relief, as the start menu was one of the most functional and useful ways to navigate around. The new start menu will be similar to the original one, however in Windows 10 the user will be able to personalize their menu. In addition, the universal search will extend to a search including web results.
Touch Screen Features
Windows 10 is also adding a full spectrum of touch screen features. The operating system will automatically detect what a touch screen is in use and it will automatically adjust. Different swipe options makes Windows 10 big competition for other touch screen systems on the market. Clearly, Microsoft is making major steps to keep up with new technology.
Windows 10 Expected Release
This newest version of Windows is said to be an important step for Microsoft. Windows 10 is intended to be a completely new application, and not merely an improved version of Windows 8. Users can look forward to a well thought out operating system that addresses long time complaints. Windows 10 is said to be released in 2015.
